Admission in Electronics and Telecommunication Branch in B.M.S College of Engineering

Admission in Electronics and Telecommunication Branch in B.M.S College of Engineering

The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering established in the year 1986 offers four year Under Graduate program in Telecommunication Engineering. The faculty, along with other stake-holders of the department constantly strive to ensure an effective implementation of Outcomes-Based-Education (OBE). These efforts have enhanced the academic quality, and has resulted in the department getting Accredited by NBA for FIVE years in the Tier-I Format (applicable for Batches graduating from 2014 to 2018, and subsequent extension in validity by One year, and One more year).

The Faculty have shared their Best Academic practices through the 49 Publications in the domain of Engineering Education. In addition to quality teaching, all faculty actively pursue research. Research carried out in the department has resulted in total of 387 publications (112 Peer-Reviewed Journal publications, 236 International Conference publications, 39 National Conference publications). These research activities, has resulted in the department being recognized research center by VTU.

The Electronics and Telecommunication Program is a multidisciplinary program that includes concepts from the two programs: ‘Electronics and Communication Engineering’ and the ‘Computer Science Engineering’. The Under Graduate Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering program is designed to develop the ability to comprehend, design and build electronic systems that can acquire and process real signals (audio/video/data) for point-to-point communication or broadcast.

Signal acquisition and processing form the core content of the course. Accordingly the program is structured to include concepts from Electronics, Communication and Computer science. Students are introduced to various electronic- components, circuits, equipment and engineering simulation tools through the laboratory sessions to strengthen concepts.

The curriculum takes the student through effective usage of Engineering Tools like: Python, Matlab, LabVIEW, Multisim, Xilinx, Mentor Graphics, Code-Composer-Studio, Qualnet and HFSS simulation tools. In addition, students are required to formulate, design, implement and demonstrate course projects/mini-projects. To ensure an overall development of student skills, the curriculum includes courses from the Humanities and Management stream as well. Accordingly, the Teaching-Learning Process of the department prepares our graduates to pursue career in either the core ‘Electronics and Communication Engineering’ domain or in the ‘Computer Science and Engineering’ domain. A well-designed curriculum, together with an equally well planned delivery and assessment is the major strength of the department.

One parameter that reflects the academic quality of the department is the quality of our Under Graduate projects. The Projects of our students has resulted in a total of 160 publications (Publications in International Journals/Conferences). Another parameter that serves as a measure our academic quality, is student placements. Our students, get an opportunity to compete with all industries looking for Electronics Engineers and/or Computer Science Engineers.

Pleased to observe that our students have secured on-campus placements with: Analog Devices, National Instruments, Cypress Semiconductors, Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard, Cisco Systems, Tektronix, Siliconch Systems Pvt.Ltd., Bharati Airtell, Delloite, Finastra, Capegemini, Oracle, Honeywell, TCS and Accenture.

Our students are able to do well in the National and International competitive examinations (GATE, GRE-TOEFL). Proud to mention that we have few students take up National Level competitive examinations for a career in the administrative Sector. Few of our students are successful entrepreneurs. A significant number of our graduates pursue higher education in Engineering/ Management in prestigious Universities in India and outside India.
